Steve Belliveau (B.S. in Applied Science) is the dynamic leader of the assemblies and workshops.  He is a member of a number of professional teaching organizations including National Science Teacher's Association.  He has been featured on local TV news programs, newspapers, PTOtoday.com,  PTA showcases and been mentioned in John Hopkins University journal.   Getting Excited About Science with Steve Belliveau was the featured science show Argonne National Laboratory (U.S. Department of Energy) Chemistry Department 2006.

About 1993, Steve noticed that there were three types of science assemblies offered to K-8 schools.  There were the overly goofy type, the completely serious type with no enthusiasm and the highly scripted show where the presenter did not really know what he/she was teaching about.  After two years of research Getting Excited About Science was born.  The show is concrete on education and state tested concepts while engaging students.  Many of the youngest students think that they are watching a magic show.  No magic tricks are used.  It is all in the presentation.  Older students are asked to make predictions.  The question like "What is the difference between a demonstration and an experiment?" are asked.  This leads into a segment on using the scientific method.  Current science topics of the day are briefly addressed and students are encouraged to ask questions.  There is no set script for the show.  The demonstrations are very dramatic and will be remembered for years to come.

Getting Excited About Science is proud to be funny and 100% on teaching!  The show uses large vocabulary cards (hung from an 8 foot tall frame) which are easily seen from across the gym, big oversized props, custom music, professional sound system and detailed teacher's guides.  The shows have been sponsored by major school districts, library systems, children's museums, fairs  and corporations across the Midwest.
